Alamo - Carl F. Smith, 74, lifelong resident of the Alamo community, died at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday at Culver Hospital where he had been a patient since Monday. Mr. Smith had been a trucker for a number of years. Born May 28, 1887 in Alamo, he was the son of John and Cinderella Balser Smith. He was first married May 26, 1910, in Alamo to Ola Westfall whose death occurred in December 1954. He married a 2nd time on Nov. 15, 1956 to Katie Fouts of Waynetown. Mr. Smith belonged to the Alamo Methodist Church. Survivors include the wife; two sons, Dorman Smith Rt 1, Waynetown and Robert E. Smith of Crawfordsville; four sisters, Mrs. Mag Fruits; Mrs. Bird Fruits and Mrs. Kate Tucker all of Alamo; and Mrs. Mary Fruits of New Richmond and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sons, Charles, Howard and Donald Smith and by a brother, Grover Smith. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Fridy at Servies Funeral Home, Waynetown with Rev. Morris Finch pastor of the Alamo Christian Church in charge. Burial will be in the Alamo cemetery.
