Carl Smith, 76, died at 4 p.m. Thursday at his home here (Waveland) after a long illness. Mr. Smith was a member of F & AM Lodge 300 and the American Legion of Waveland. He was a Veteran of WWI. He last worked for the State Highway. A Parke County native, he was born 10 Sept. 1892 son of Joe & Allie (Lang) Smith. He was married at Rockville 21 July 1919 to Hazel Morgan. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fred Bazzani and Miss Hulda Smith of Waveland, a brother, Clarence of Alamo, 3 grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daugther, three brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home here with Rev. Herb Sweringen officiating. Internment will be at Maple Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday for Carl Smith at the Machledt and Servies Funeral Home in Waveland with Re.v Herbert Swearingen officiating. Serving as pallbearers and assisting with the flowers were Earl Bowman, Raymond Moore, Fred Myers, William Shular and WIlliam Search. The Raymond Todd Post 323 conducted military services with Taps played by Airman Hugh McCalment and Edwin Armstrong. Bur. in Maple Ridge cemetery.
