ROCKVILLE, Ind. –
Mrs. Dolly O. Smelser, 84, of 501 W. Main, Edwardsburg, Mich., a former Parke
County resident, died at 2:33 p.m. Tuesday (July 18, 1978) in the Methodist
Hospital of Mayo Clinic at Rochester, Minn. She was a retired
secretary-bookkeeper for the Smelser Ready-Mix Concrete and Construction Co. of
South Bend. She was a graduate of South Bend Business College. Born Oct. 11.
1893, in Waveland, she was the daughter of Joseph O. and Ada M. Mayes Dooley.
She was married to Chase D. Smelser, who survives. Other survivors include a
daughter, Mrs. Yetive Browne of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Hinkle of
Logansport; a brother, P. J. Dooley of rural Rockville; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tudor-Herrick Memorial Chapel in
Rockville, with the Rev. James O. Trousdale officiating. Burial will be in
Bethany Cemetery at Marshall. Visitation will be after noon Saturday at the
funeral home. – jlr
