Waynetown, April 29 – William F. Sloan, 84, a resident of this community for many years died Thursday night at 8:15 o’clock after an illness of four weeks. Born in Martinsburg, Ind Aug 29, 1847 he was the son of John and Mary Sloan. He came to Waynetown at the age of 16 years and had lived here ever since. On Nov 2, 1875, he was married to Mary Musser who died 12 years ago. Mr. Sloan was a member of the Christian Church and charter member of the Waynetown Odd Fellows lodge, having been a member for 54 years and for 34 years served as secretary. Surviving are a son, Claude Sloan of Wolcott, British Columbia; a daughter, Mrs. Blanche Rusk of Wellsboro, Ind, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The body will lie in state in the Christian Church here from 1:30 until 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon, followed by services in charge of the Rev. JC Burkhart of Crawfordsville. Interment in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. – kbz
