Dr. Sloan, one of the oldest physicians of Crawfordsville died on Monday morning from general prostration. He was born in New Jersey in 1810 and came to Crawfordsville on horse back in 1835. Beyond a months’ residence at Danville, Ill, his entire life was spent among our people and here he raised a family that have grown to adult estate and with credit to parents and themselves. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. His funeral was conducted yesterday morning by Rev. Stratton of Center Church and Rev. Bates of the NS Baptist Church. Interment of the remains was made at Oak Hill. – transcribed by kbz
