Hiram F. SLAVENS, died at 1:30 Sunday jan 31, 1960 in Culver Hospital after an illness of 5 days. Born Oct 5, 1883, in Benton County, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther C. Slavens. He was married in 1908 to Elva L. Rice. Mr. Slavens was a member of the Browns Valley Baptist Church and farmed in Montgomery and Fountain Counties most of his life. He was last employed before retirement by Maple Hurst Dairy. Surviving are a son, Ivan; sister, Nola Broshar; two grandchildren of New Market; preceded by wife and two daughters. Fuenral rites were held Wednesday afternoon at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Lynford Orr in charge; burial Freedom Cemetery.
