William M. Slattery, 61, of 1201 S. Grant Ave., died Friday in Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis. Mr. Slattery had been an employee of Mid-States Steel & Wire Co. since 1935. He was sales manager-merchant trade division at the time of his death. Mr. Slattery served in the Army Air Corps. during World War II. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Byron Cox Post 72 of the American Legion, Elks Lodge 483 and the Crawfordsville Country Club. He was born Jan. 3, 1915, at Crawfordsville, the son of Thomas and Hazel Mason Slattery. He was a 1933 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. He married Jean Hendricks in May 1947 in Crawfordsville. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jack of Freeport, Ill., and Stephen of Collinsville, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Susan Plank of Crawfordsville and Mary Ann, at home; a sister, Mrs. R. C. Copper of Valparaiso; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Bernard Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Msg. Henry F. Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at Hunt & Son Funeral Home 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. The Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. – jlr
