Slater - Lydia Corbin

Mrs. Lydia Slater, who for many years lived north of Darlington died Wednesday morning at the Soldiers Home in Lafayette. While death was unexpected, Mrs. Slater had been in ill health for some time. For the past seven years she had made her home in Lafayette, the last 4 of which were spent at the Soldier's Home. Mrs. Slater was 70 the 11th of last October and with the exception of the years in Lafayette and a short time in Darlington, she had lived on a farm north of town. She is survived by two children, George Slater and Mrs. Ella McManama and one sister, Miss Mary Ann Corbin. The remains will be brought here today where the funeral services will be held from the Methodist Church at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made at the Odd Fellows Cemetery. -- kbz
