Smith - John B.

John B. Smith, a former resident of this city, and a
brother-in-law of Ed Coleman, was killed at Surrey, a small
station on the L N A & C road beyond Renssalaer on Tuesday
night. He was a freight brakeman on the road, and was engaged in
coupling cars when the rear end came against the forward end with
such force as to knock him off the car onto the track, when 14
cars passed over his body. The remains were brought to this city
