Mrs. Hattie M. Speer Smith, 71, Rt.
1, Linden, a resident of the Linden community 16 years, died Saturday
morning in Culver Hospital. She had been in failing health three months
and seriously ill three weeks. Born Jan. 27, 1888 at Bedford, Ind., Mrs.
Smith married Charles R. Smith of Bedford in 1919. She was a member of
the Church of Christ at Pinhook, Ind. near Bedford. Surviving are the
husband, three sons, Edwin Smith of Crawfordsville, Fred Smith of
McAllen, Tex., and Walter Smith of Greenfield, Ind., and eight
grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Day
and Carter Mortuary at Bedford. Burial will be at the Fairview
Cemetery, east of Bedford. Friends may call at the funeral home
beginning at noon Sunday.
