ALAMO – Zola R. Smiley, 75, of Alamo died at 6:20 p.m. Monday in Carmen Nursing Home at Crawfordsville. She was a member of the New Ross Methodist Church, a past worthy matron of Alamo OES and a member of the Ladies Aid of the Alamo Christian Church. She was born on July 11, 1898, near New Ross, a daughter of William and Rutha Morrison Bratton. She married Charles Byron Smiley on July 12, 1919. He died July 30, 1973. Surviving are a son, Robert A. Smiley of Crawfordsville; a grandson, Dr. Robert Smiley of Crawfordsville, and a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Smiley. Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Hunt & Son Funeral Home at Crawfordsville with the Rev. Guy Tremaine officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. Wednesday. – jlr
