Waynetown - John Simpson, 69, Rt 1, died at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Lafayette.  He was an overhead crane operator for Alcoa at Lafayette for 35 years, retiring in 1976 and was a member of the Alcoa 25 Year Club.  He was a member and deacon of the Waynetown Christian Church and Loyal Workers Class.  He was an Army veteran in WWII in the European Theater.  He was a member of the Byron Cox Post 72 of the American Legion and was graduated in 1934 from Crawfordsville HS.  Born Aug 23, 1913 in the Youngs Chapel neighborhood, he was a son of Rex and Mabel Rose Risk Simpson.  He was married at Crawfordsville on Sept 1, 1934 to Sarah Mae Ingersoll. She survives.  Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Donna Simpson of Rt 6, Crawfordsville and two granddaughters.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with the Rev. Dorman Winger officiating. Interment will be in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Crawfordsville American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Thursday. - kbz
