Simpson - Clarence - WWII "Snowy"

Clarence "Snowy" Simpson, 71, of 1422 W. Market St. died at 4:40 a.m. Saturday in Lane House Nursing Home. He was a former head basketball coach at Wabash College and Kansas State University. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the Manhattan Project. A graduate of Kansas State University, he was a member of the National Basketball Coaches. Mr. Simpson was born February 13, 1916, at Pittsburgh. Pa., to William and Madelyn Shindler Simpson. He married Romaine Dimitt on November 23, 1940, at Cumberland, Md., who preceded him in death on April 20, 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Parker of Seattle, Washington; and a granddaughter, Erin Parker. Services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Brigman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. – thanks to Kim H
