Alfred Simpson, living about one-half mile north of Youngs Chapel, died at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon of heart failure. Mr. Simpson underwent a spell of sickness last winter and since that time had not been in robust health altho his condition had never been considered serious. He was born in Indiana and had spent the greater part of his life in the neighborhood where he died. He was 67 years of age and is survived by one son, Rex Simpson and two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Daisy) Allen and Mrs. Louis (Winnie) Jones. The Masonic ritualistic services were conducted at the funeral by members of the Darlington Lodge of which Mr. Simpson had long been a member. The services were conducted at the home at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, Rev. Hedrick of Indianpaolis officiating. The pall bearers all Masonic brothers, were Sylvester Needham, William Saidla, Wesley Hughes, Earl Woody, Alfred Morrison and Samuel Blanton. Burial at Oak HIll Cemetery in Crawfordsville. -- kbz

Alfred Simpson of near Young’s Chapel died yesterday at his home of heart failure. He has been in ill health for some time, but his condition was never considered as serious. However, he became suddenly worse and died almost immediately. Mr. Simpson is a well known man in this community, having lived here died about four years ago (sic). He is survived by one son, Rex Simpson and two daughters, Mrs. Richard Allen and Mrs. Louis Jones. Mr. Simpson was a familiar figure here in Crawfordsville where he has many friends who regret his death. The funeral will be held from the home at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning and will be in charge of Rev. Headrick. Burial will be made in Oak Hill.
