Glen F. Simmons 68 a life resident of the Mellott community died at 4 a.m. Sunday October 27, 1963 in Robert Long Hospital, Indianapolis, where he had undergone surger a week ago. He had been in ailing health several months and seriously ill 3 weeks. Mr. Simmons was born on a farm near Mellott on July 2, 1895, the son of Ira Manson and Kate Short Simmons. He was married May 17, 1916 at Danville, Ill. to Beatrice Twiddy who survives with two daughters, Mrs. Katherine Yelton of Pittsboro and Mrs. Thelma May of Manchester NH. Other surv include two brothers, Paul Simmons of Veedersburg and Davey of Lafayette; a sister, Mrs Orpha Williams of Mellott, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A daughter, a sister and a brother preceded him in death. Mr. Simmons was a retired employee of Brown Rubber Co. of Lafrayette. He was a member of the united Church of Christ and Eagles Lodge and former member of the Mellott Town Board. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Crumley Funeral Home with Rev. Don Cutts officiating. Interment took place in Rose Hill Cemetery at Hillsboro.
