Abraham A. Simmons, 67 of 724 South Tenth Street died suddenly of heart disease at his home here yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. Mr. Simmons apparently had not been in ill health and had worked in his yard until shortly before noon yesterday when he was stricken. A physician was summoned but had not arrived when death occurred. Mr. Simmons was born near Crawfordsville Sept 23, 1869, a son of William A. and matilda (Kashner) Simmons and married Miss Hattie C. Holliday of Linden in 1893. For 16 years the couple lived in Chicago moving to Lafayette two years ago. Mr. Simmons had been employed as a salesman by the JW Allen Co of Chicago, wholesale dealers in bakery and confectionary supplies from 1923 until the time of his death. Surviving besides the wife is a son Harold C. Simmons of Danvenport, Iowa. Funeral arrangements have been deferred pending the arrival of the son. The body was removed to the Rogers & Smith Funeral Home.
