William Sigler, a Big Four section hand, sustained fatal injuries while working at the track near New Ross last evening. He had been cutting weeds on the main track and stepped aside for the east bound passenger No 18. The west bound passenger No 3 due here at 5:45 had taken the siding there to await the Knickerbocker but Sigler had taken no notice of the fact and stepped upon the side track in front of No 3 which had started up. The engineer saw his danger and sounded the whistle, but too late, and an instant later the pilot struck the unfortunate man. He was thrown to one side and boxing of the cars struck him several times as the train went by. The accident occurred aobut 5:30 o'clock and Sigler died at midnight from his injuries. He was 54 years of age and leaves a wife and four small children in destitute circumstances. He had been working on the section but two days. The railroad company has taken charge of the funeral which will be held tomorrow. Coroner Dennis went to New Ross this afternoon to hold the inquest. - kbz
