Waynetown—Walter A. SHURR, Waynetown native, died at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday in Lakeview Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill. Shurr, 82, had suffered a stroke five days before and was hospitalized immediately afterward. The deceased was retired from a real estate brokerage operation with which he had been affiliated for more than 25 years. His membership in fraternal organizations included Anchor Lodge No. 980 F&AM of Danville, The Danville Consistory of that order and the Danville Kiwanis Club. Shurr retained his membership in the Waynetown Methodist Church. A son of Adolph and Isabelle Colclazer Shurr, he was born on Jan. 11, 1885. His first wife, Sarah Ann, died in April of 1925. He was subsequently married to Esther Sadewasser in November of 1939. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Margaret) White of Homer, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, a sister and two brothers. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Barrick Funeral Home in Danville with Rev. Oliver Starn in charge. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Friday.
