Shurr - John Adolph

Waynetown, Dec 15 - John A. Shurr passed away at 4:30 Thursday morning at his home here after an illness of two weeks. Mr. Shurr had been suffering from a complication of diseases. The deceased was born March 11, 1840, near Crawfordsville, son of John and Permelia Armstrong Shurr. In 1867 he was united in marriage with Miss Isabel Colelazer and to this union 7 children were born, 3 dying in infancy. Mr. Shurr had been a member of the Baptist Church 45 years and with the exception of the time he spent in the serving during the Civil War had lived all his life in Montgomery County. He was a volunteer soldier in Wilder's brigade, 72nd Indiana. Besides his wife he is survived by 3 sons, William of Parkeville, Mo; Charles of Crawfordsville and Walter of Danville, Il. One daughter survives, Mrs. Lou Simpson of Waynetown. The funeral services will be held from the late home Saturday morning at 10:30, Rev. G. E. Tremain in charge. Burial - Masonic Cemetery.
