Shumaker - Ruby Orahood

Mrs. Ruby Lee Shumaker, age 69, Veedersburg Rt. 2, a native of Fountain County, died at 6:15 p. m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill., where she had been a patient eight days. She had been in ill health the past month. Mrs. Shumaker was born in this county May 13, 1893, the daughter of Pearl Lee and Phoebe Richardson Orahood. She was married Feb. 13, 1913 to Grant Shumaker, who preceded her in death June 7, 1957. She was a member of the Cooper Chapel EUB Church and a life resident of the Cooper Chapel community. She moved to Veedersburg Rt. 2 during the past year. Survivors include: three children, Lloyd D., of Covington Rt. 3, and Mrs. Marvin (Virginia) Dark and Charles Duane, both of Veedersburg Rt. 2; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandsons; one brother, Mont Orahood of Veedersburg Rt. 2; and two sisters, Mrs. Doris Nash of Harvey, Ill., and Mrs. Rachel Summers of Veedersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters and an infant son. The body is at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here where friends may call after noon Thursday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 1 p. m. Friday. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate and burial will be in the Cooper Chapel Cemetery. --typed by Walt W
