Shultz - Lester

Lester R. Shultz, 68, of near Newtown died at 1:45 p.m. Monday (May 22, 1972) while working in a pasture near his home a half mile west of Newtown. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Born May 26, 1903, in the home where he resided, he was the son of George Washington and Viola Hatton Shultz. He was married to Edna Wildman of Newtown, who survives. He graduated from Newtown High in 1922 and from the Indiana Welding School in Indianapolis. A farmer and a mechanic, he operated a garage in Newtown from 1942-1953. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Newtown. Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lorena Kerns of Newtown and Mrs. Helen Akers of Crawfordsville, a son, Eugene of Newtown; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was the last member of a family of 10. He also was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter. Services were Wednesday at the Crumley-Williams Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with the Rev. Walter Williams officiating. Burial was in Newtown Cemetery. --- jlr
