Mrs. Florence Baxter Banta Shultz, 87, died Monday morning Oct 13, 1958 in the Small Nursing Home at Waynetown after an illness of 10 years. Born March 26, 1870, in Switzerland County, she was the daughter of Samuel and Harriet Palmer Baxter. She was married to Thomas W. Banta in March 1890. She was a member of the Waveland Methodist Church. Survivors include 3 sons: Theron Banta of Waveland; George Banta of Veedersburg; Basle Banta of Gary; 7 grandchildren and several greats. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday morning at the Machledt & Servies Funeral Home with the Rev. Esmond Elliot of Dana officiating and assisted by the Rev. Phillip Badger of Waveland. Burial in Maple Ridge Cemetery, Waveland. -- kbz

WAVELAND- Mrs. Florence Baxter Banta Shultz, 87, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday in the Small Nursing Home at Waynetown after an illness of 10 years. She was born March 26, 1870, in Switzerland County, the daughter of Samuel and Harriet Palmer Baxter. She was married in March 1890, to Thomas W. Banta, in Lamb. She was a member of the Waveland Methodist Church. Surviving are three sons, Theron Banta of Waveland, George Banta of Veedersburg and Basie Banta of Gary; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Perry Banta. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Machledt and Servies Funeral Home with Rev. Esmond Elliot of Dana officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Phillip Badger of Waveland. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Tuesday. -- kbz
