Shultz - Bertha McCauley

Bertha Anna Shultz, 95, Newtown, died at her residence Thursday, July 17, at 7:02 p. m., having been ill one and a half years. She was born at Abbingdon, Va., Nov. 28, 1890, the daughter of James L. and Isabella Barr Crowell McCauley. Shad lived most of her life in the Newtown area. She was married Sept. 27, 1916, at Abbingdon, Va., to Andrew A. Shultz, who preceded her in death July 13, 1959. She attended school at Abbingdon, Va. She was employed at Radio Materials Corporation, Attica, for about 10 years. She was a member of the Newtown Community Church, Home Economics Club and the women's society of the church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Virginia) Slauter, Crawfordsville, and Mrs. R. H. (Viola) Hunnings, Connersville; one foster son, Lawrence Kirkpatrick, Route 1, Attica; three grandchildren; three great=grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. One foster son, Myron Kirkpatrick, also preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Sunday at the Newtown Community Church with the Rev. James E. Byerly officiating. Mrs. Kathryn Cushman sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer", accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Sharon Bacon. Those who served as pallbearers were Mark Hall, R. H. Hunnings II, Wally Hooker, Art Hayman, Scott Bowers, Bradley Hunnings and Paul Spear. Honorary pallbearers were Daniel Kirkpatrick and Rolly Butler. Burial followed in Newtown Cemetery. Maus Funeral Home, Attica, Attica, was in charge of arrangements. Those so desiring may contribute in memoriam to the Newtown Community Church Memorial Fund.
