Source: New Richmond Record 12 Dec 1912 p1
Mrs. Rebecca Shobe, aged 74 years, who was formerly a resident of New Richmond, also made her home last winter here with Mrs. Jemima Detchon, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Hamp Booher in Darlington at 10:30 Sunday night Dec 1st, after an illness of two weeks from a complication of diseases, her failing health having extended far beyond that time. Mrs. Shobe’s maiden name was Boyer; she was born west of Darlington and had lived all her life in Montgomery County. Her husband, Felix Shobe, died several years ago, and Charles Shobe is the only son of three children who survive her. She is mourned also by two granddaughters, Misses Ruth and Esther Shobe of New Richmond. One brother, John Boyer of Crawfordsville also survives. Mrs. Shobe was a member of the Methodist Church and was truly a good, noble woman who will be missed in many homes. The funeral was held from the Booher home at 10:30 o’clock on Tuesday conducted by Rev. Rippetoe, pastor of the Darlington ME Church. The interment was made in the family burial lot in the Lutheran cemetery east of Darlington – kbz
