WINGATE — Mrs. Hattie M. Shobe, 64, died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday at her home here. She had been in failing health about a year and seriously ill three months. Mrs. Shobe operated the Shobe Restaurant here for 30 years until her health began failing. She attended grade school at Elmdale and was a graduate of Wingate High School. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church. Born Sept. 17, 1899, in Lawrence County, Ill., she was a daughter of Claude and Effie Cooper Vandament. She married Ivan Shobe of Wingate in April of 1919. They were married at Crawfordsville. Survivors include her mother, with whom she had made her home the past several years; an aunt, Mrs. Lucinda Vandament of Beebe, Ark.; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elodie Williams and Mrs. Mayme Crane, both of Wingate. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1957 and a son, Claude, in 1932. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Homer Hunsinger of Lebanon officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery here. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
