Mrs. E.M. Laird for a number of years a resident in Waveland who has been in Woodmere Hospital in Evansville for the past two years and a half died on Friday. She had a severe attack of pneumonia early in the spring from the effects of which she never recovered. Funeral services were held at Cates United Brethren Church on Monday afternoon. Burial in Harveysburg Cemetery North of Kingman. Mrs. Laird was born in Oct 1867 in Parke Cuntyo the daughter of William and Elizabeth Clore. Her first husband Alfred Shoaf preceded her in death about 24 years ago. She was again married to W.M. DeHaven who lived only a short time afterward. She then was married in December 1918 to E.M. Laird who survives. She was a charter member of the Nazarene Church at Hillsboro. Survivors besides the husband who lives in Waveland are her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Clore, 92 years old of near Wallace; two daughters, Mrs. June Allen of Cates and Mrs. Grace Crowder of Benton Harbor MI; 3 sons, Omer Shoaf of Cates and Elmer & Fred, both of Urbana Ill; 3 brother, Jesse and James Clore of Annapolis and a sister, Margaret Shoaf of Grange Corner; 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. - kbz
