A telegram was received this morning by George Durham from Harmon Marsh, at Jacksonville, Fla announcing the death at that place on Tuesday of Cass O. Sherman and stating that the remains had been shipped this morning to this place. They will arrive tomorrow evening and be taken at once to the residence of Prof. JH Osborne. Cass Sherman came to this city several years since from Veedersburg and accepted a clerkship with David Harter. He was made a bookkeeper at the First National Bank, a position which he filled acceptably for four years or until failing health compelled him to abandon office work. Having lost his wife he resigned his position and removed to Wyoming Territory and engaged in ranching. His health improved and he thought he was going to get well. About one year ago he was again married, and soon after he was seized with the destroyer, consumption and he went to Florida thinking to be benefited by the climate, but his life could not be saved. He was a man quiet and unassuming, polite and prompt in all business transactions and had a host of friends. He was a native Hoosier, having been born and raised in the northern part of the state. His father and mother are now residents of Danville, Ill. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. EB Thomson. The time of the funeral will be announced tomorrow. - transcribed by kbz
