Shepler - Eddiess Terry

Mrs. Eddiess Shepler, wife of J. A. Shepler, local manager for the Central Union telephome Company passed away at her home, 687 Cherry Street at 9 o'clock last night death being due to peritonitis. As a last hope of prolonging life an operation was performed Sunday but it was of no benefit. Mrs. Shepler was an unusually beautiful woman and possessed of a charming manner that won her many friends during her short residence in this city. She was a brilliant woman, having a literary talent recognized by publication of a number of short stories in the leading magazines, including Ladies Home Journal. She also wrote for an Indianapolis paper. Mrs. Shepler formerly was Miss Eddiess Terry of Ft. Wayne and at the time of her marriage five years ago, she was a teacher in the public schools there. She is survived by a father and mother, a brother and a sister all living in Ft. Wayne, besides her husband and a child three years old.The funeral conducted by Rev. Frank M. Fox of the Washington Avenue Church will be held Saturday. Interment at Highland Cemetery - Terre Haute Express. Note: Mr. Shepler was manager of the local exchange prior to his transfer to Terre Haute and brought his wife here as a bride. She made many warm friends during their short residence in Crawfordsville, who will be pained to learn of her untimely death and who most sincerely sympathize with the bereaved husband.
[Note: Eddiess Terry was born about 1878 in Michigan. Her father was John, her mother was Sarah. Her sister was Minnie, and her brother had not been born at the time of the 1880 census.]
