Mrs. Elizabeth Shelly died last Monday at her son’s – John A. Tharp residence.  Mrs. Shelly ate a hearty dinner 15 or 20 minutes before she died.  She had been sick about 8 days with pneumonia and seemed to be much better a short time before her death.  Report says that heart failure was the cause of Mrs. Shelly passing away so suddenly.  She was born Jan 1, 1821, and died Feb 12, 1894 making her 73 years one month and 12 days old.  Mrs. Shelly was first married to Allen Tharp. She buried him 17 years ago and Feb 27, 1875 was married to Michael Shelly who died in August 1890.  She made a contract with Mr. Shelly before her second marriage that if she died first he was to bury her by the side of her first husband. Allen Tharp,  She buried him 17 years ago and Feb 27, 1875 was married to Michael Shelly who died in August 1890.  She made a contract with Mr.  Shelly before her second marriage that if she died first he was to bury her by the side of her first husband and if he died first she was to bury him by the side of his first wife, she kept her promise and her son JA Tharp says it is left to him to fulfill his part so she was buried at Abners Creek, Hendricks County on last Wednesday.  CC LaFollette of Thorntown was the undertaker.  Charley is a nice young man and deserved the patronage of all his friends.  Mrs. Shelly united with the Babtist (sic) Church 56 years ago and has lived a Christian life trying to do her master’s bidding and has now gone home to her reward – Shannondale Correspondent – Crawfordsville Star  --–kbz
