In 8 months the grim reaper has removed two chapters from the Sharp family. On Jan 7, Aunt Ann Cook departed this life. Following so soon our father, who would ill be spared from earth's labors. His sudden death brings a shock to his many friends. Madison Sharp was born in Gibson County, Indiana May 11, 1845; moved to Clark Twp, Montgomery County Indiana with his parents Oct 1, 1848 and lived here until his death. On Feb 25, 1874 he was married to Armine C. Ellis. To their union were born 7 sons and 3 daughters. In the gloomy month of April 1880, the grim reaper visited their home and took from their midst on 15th day, Charley H, 21st Elza and 27th Mary Maude. With his grief-stricken widow he leaves to mourn their loss John of Bainbridge, Nina Lough, Lora E, Roy M, Ross P, Walter E and Elmer E. 7 grandchildren all of Ladoga, two brothers, Sylvester of Bethany, Mo; Perry of Ladoga and a host of griends. He was of a sunny disposition. Hardly a day of his late life, he could either be seen sitting on the veranda of his home or about the streets. Although for the past 3 years he had been a sufferer of Bright's disease, he saw the beauty and goodness of the world, always having a cheerful word for his friends as they passed by. The last days of his life he was as eager to go as a child who had the promise of a new pleasure. Often saying, "I am just waiting'; have been waiting so many days." Sometimes, "Wonder if the messenger had forgotten to come." On the wings of the morning of Sept 17 at 7:30 the messenger came. Lora E. Sharp. -- kbz
