Funeral services for John R. SHARP were held at the Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. LP Green, assisted by Rev. Russell Rice of Bellmore. The singing was provided by a mixed quartet composed of Delbert White; Mrs. Olive Reiter; Mrs. Olive Lough and Orlando G. Swany with Mrs. Lowell SPencer as pianist. After the sermon the Masonic Order gave their service, the address being delivered by Mr. Leslie Frank of Morton. The following obituary was read by Rev. LP Green: John R. Sharp, son of Isaac and Mary Sharp was born in Waveland, Indiana July 11, 1871. He departed this life, Sunday Jan 7, 1934 at 11:30 a.m. aged 62 years. He was married to MInnie Lou CONNER Dec 13, 1894. In early life, his boyhood days, he united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Waveland. It might well be said of him that he was never absent from church service if it were possible for him to attend availing him of the privileges offered by Sunday School and preaching services. He was ever an earnest and loyal member. He loved music and enjoyed singing in the choir. But failing health made it necessary for him to give up these responsibilities which he loved to bear. As a neighbor he will be sadly missed for he was a man of most pleasing personality. In disposition and temperament he was sociable and affable. His home was ever a place of welcome to friend and relatives where they found a hospitatlity so sincere and genuine that it endeared him to all who knew him intimately. There was no sacrifice he was reluctant to bear for his loved ones. He was a good and true man in all the walks of life. He became a member of the Masonic Lodge when 22. He aso belonged to the Modern Woodmen Lodge. He manifested a keen interest in public affairs sympathizing with and devoted to the uplifting of his fellow men. His advice was deemed valuable. He served as town clerk for 27 years. He is survived by a devoted wife, an adopted daughter, Gladys whom he loved as his own who with her husband, Lee Foster has established her home on a farm near Waveland, a little granddaughter, Dorothy Lou, a sister, Mrs. Emma Barr of Russellville, four brothers, Charles and Frank of Waveland; Alva of Montezuma and Otho of Chicago. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Theodore; Samuel; William and Fred. His helath had been failing for some time and during the last year his strength rapidly failed through a complication of diseases. he lingered patiently and uncomplainingly greeting his friends with a smile both cordial and kind. He had no fear of that change that should come to him in passing from this life, knowing the promise of his Savior in whom he trusted to prepare a home for him where there would be no sorrow. The flower bearers were Parke Spencer; Harry Moser; Paul Emmert; Gerald Robison; Darwin Booker and Robert Everhart. Pall bearers were DA McGaughey; Orris Reiter; Ray Sharp; Ira Sharp; Byron Miller and Harry Clark. Those attending from a distance were Mrs. Mary Miller of Elkhart; Otho Sharp of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Everhart and son of lafaeytte; Mr. and Mrs. Alva Sharp and Mr. Cox of Montezuma; Byron Miller; Mr. and mrs. Albert Seaman; Mrs. Roy Vancleave; Mr. and mrs. John W. Servies all of New Market; Rev. and Mrs. Stnaforth and Miss Ruby Sharp of Crawfordsville; Rev and Mrs. Russell Rice and Mrs. Belle Sharp of Bellmore; Mr. and mrs. DaA McGaughey and Daughter, Mildred; Mrs. Emma Barr and Mrs. Lewis McGuaghey of Russellville. -- kbz
