Waynetown -- Joseph Clyde Shanks, 69, of Waynetown died at 10 p. m. Friday in veterans Hospital at Indianapolis. He had suffered a stroke September 25, and was taken to Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville, then transferred to the Indianapolis hospital. A native of Clysville, Indiana, he was a son of Frank and Elizabeth Hayes Shanks and was born Aug 29, 1897. He was a graduate of New Ross High School. Mr. Shanks through most of his adult life was employed at a Westinghouse plant at Mansfield, Ohio. He was a World War II veteran. He had lived in Wayentown since his retirement in 1959. He was a member of the Christian Church at Providence, Ind and of Waynetown Lodge 302 F&AM. He was never married. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ina Shanks and niece, Miss Anna Lee Shanks of Washington, DC. Funeral services are announced for 2 p. m. Monday at Servies Funeral Home with Rev. Morris Finch Jr. of the Waynetown Christian Ch urch officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home where Masonic rites were conducted there Sunday night. -- kbz

Waynetown - Funeral services for Joseph Clyde Shanks were held Monday at Servies Funeral HOme, Rev. Morris Finch, Jr, pastor of the Christian Church in charge. Organ music played by Mrs. Nellie Snyder, included special numbers, God Be With You and Beyond the Sunset. Pallbearers who also assisted with the flowers were RUssell Harris, Joe Killey, Bill Thomas, RObert Hayes, Merle Venis, Harold Batton and Ray Thompson. Burial in Masonic Cemetery. Sunday the Waynetown Masonic Lodge held rites in charge of Roy Meharry of New RIchmond assisted by officers, Jack Swank, worshipful master; Russell Harris, senior warden; Harold Bratton, junior warden; Al Austin, secretary; Eugene Cox, senior deacon; Francis Grimble, junior deacon; Clifford Swank, tyler; with other members, Clyde Bowlus; Herman Cramer; Walter Quillin; Maurice Reideberg; Thomas Harper and Ray Thompson. -- kbz
