LINDEN --- Mrs. Mima D. Shanklin, resident of Linden since 1912, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Andrew Johnson. Mrs. Shanklin, 86, was visiting her daughter's Rt. 1 home when she was stricken. Her husband, Fred M. Shanklin, preceded her in death on May 29, 1938. He was a funeral director in Linden for over 30 years and Mrs. Shanklin maintained a home in Linden until her death. She was a member of the Linden-Kirkpatrick United Methodist Church, and its affiliate, the Woman's Society of Christian Service. She also held membership in the Linden Women's Club. Born on Aug. 6, 1882 near New Richmond, she was the daughter of A. V. and Hannah Kennedy Patton. She attended Patton's Corner School and later graduated from West Lafayette High School. She was married on Oct. 20, 1912 in Peoria, Ill. In addition to Mrs. Johnson, she is survived by a grandson, Fred Johnson of Waynetown, and two granddaughters, Mrs. Janet McCormick of Waynetown and Mary Van Johnson. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Helms Funeral Home with Revs. Bryan Johnson of Indianapolis and Dale Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday.
