Mrs. Lucinda Jane Shaffer was born Feb 14, 1855 in Montgomery County, Ind and died at her home on Harrison Street, this city Jan 5, 1915. She had spent most of her life in this county. In 1870 she was united in marriage to James Keerns (sic). To this union were born 8 children, 5 girls and 3 boys, four of whome together with their father, preceded her in death. In 1879 she was united in marriage to George W. Shaffer. To this union were born two children, a daughter and a son. This husband, daughter and son survive. She had lived in a consistent Christian life, being a member of the Christian Church. She was a kind and loving mother and wife, a good neighbor and true friend. She leaves to mourn their loss her six children, husband, and an only brother, Edward Stonebraker of Kingman, her grandchildren and many friends. Interment was made Jan 8 two miles northwest of Elmdale. - kbz

Mrs. Lucinda Shafer, 60 year old, died at her home on Spring Street Tuesday afternoon shortly after 4. Mrs. Shafer is survived by her husband, George Shafer and 5 children. Mrs. Shafer became ill a few weeks ago and pneumonia set in, causing her death. Funeral services will be held from the late home at 9 Friday morning in charge of Rev. JW Thompson. Burial in a cemetery near Wingate. - kbz
