Shipman -George Francis

LINDEN -- George Francis (Frank) Shipman, oldest resident of this community,
died at 2 a.m. Sunday at age 94. He died at the home of a daughter, Mrs.
Sadie Hobson after an illness of about one year. Born Nov. 7, 1864, at
Olney City, Ill., he was a son of Isaac and Roda Rankin Shipman. He had
lived here the past 60 years. Mr. Shipman was a member of the Linden New
Testament Baptist Church. He was married to Lucenda Stull. They were
married Nov. 12, 1884, in Fountain County. She died in 1938. Surviving
are six daughters, Mrs. Nellie Royer and Mrs. Sadie Hobson, both of
Linden, Mrs. Delsie Thomas of Battle Ground, Mrs. Alice Todd of
Indianapolis and Mrs. Bess Teeguarden of Frankfort; three sons, Benjamin
H. of Russellville, Ark., John of Hammond and Ray Shipman of Linden; 28
grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, 19 great-great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by two sons. Funeral services will be conducted
here at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McCloud Funeral Home with Rev. George
Irwin of Cook officiating. Burial will be in Linden Cemetery. Friends
may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday.
