Shewey - Harry

Harry SHEWEY, Republican trustee-elect in Walnut Twp. and one
of the most prominent farmers of the County, died at Culver Union
Hospital about 1 o'clock Sunday night. Mr. Shewey failed to
recover following a serious abdominal operation performed on Fri.
night. He had apparently been in good health and was not taken
ill until Thursday evening. He had spent Thursday in husking corn. He was
brought to Culver hospital on Friday morning.
He was born on Sept 11,
1870 at Rockbridge, Va the son of Frank & Anna Shewey. About 30
years ago, he married Miss Stella KENNEDY. Mr. Shewey was unusually
successful as a farmer and was especially prominent in the County
corn growers' association. He belonged to the Mace Methodist
Church and was a member of the Red Men and Modern Woodmen lodges.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Stella Shewey, two sons, Lester of
Crawfordsville and William of Mace and a daughter, Waneta Shewey,
at home. His mother, a brother, Frank Shewey of New Ross and a
granddaughter, Katherine Shewey also survive. Mr. Shewey was
chosen trustee of Walnut Twp. Nov 2. The funeral will be held
from the Mace Methodist Church at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon.
