William Clement Sharp, who has been in poor health for some months, died in the Ben Hur Sanitorium just before midnight on Friday. Funeral services at the Methodist Church on Sunday afternoon were conducted by Rev. J.B. Johnson who came up from Battleground for that purpose. Burial at Maple Ridge. The death of Mr. Sharp, generally known as "Will", is the second among the children of Isaac and Mary Sharp, a son, Fred, having passed away in 1895. He was born in Russellville, but as the family soon moved to Waveland, it may be said that he grew up here. He was educated in the schools of the time and learned his father's trade and there met and married Mary E. Brinley, Nov. 10, 1880. To them was born one son, Percy. Mrs. Sharp died Aug. 2, 1890. Mr. Sharp went after a time to live with his son in Danville, Ill.; later coming back to Waveland where he has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. James Barr. He joined the Methodist Church in early life. He was an excellent workman, of a quiet disposition, and a great reader. He is survived by one son, Percy; by two grandchildren, Clement Sharp and Mrs. Fontella Jackson of Canton, Ohio; by one sister: Mrs. James Barr; and by seven brothers: Samuel of Bellmore, Theodore, Charles and John of Waveland, Alva of Montezuma, Otho of Crawfordsville, and Frank of Indianapolis. Those present from a distance were Otho Sharp and daughters, Eunice, Ruby, Delores and Audrey, and Mr. and Mrs. Newell of Crawfordsville; Mr. and Mrs. Alva Sharp of Montezuma; Mr. and Mrs. D.A. McGaughey of Dana; Samuel Sharp of Bellmore and Frank Sharp of Indianapolis. - typed by kbz
