At the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. George Stroh, Saginaw, Mich., Mrs. Martha E. Seward passed away suddenly. It is a pleasant thought to feel that we know there is a better and lovelier life before us when done with earth, and that we have the promise of meeting her on that bright shore, where parting is no more if we live in obedience to God’s commands. Our sister ever bore the trials of life quietly and uncomplainingly. Martha J. Seward was the eldest daughter of William T. and Eliza A. Lovett, who have gone on before. She was born November 19, 1836, in Hamilton county, Ohio, and died February 11, 1915, aged seventy-eight years, three months and one day. Her body was laid to rest in the cemetery at Hamilton, Ohio, near her old home. In early life united with the Presbyterian church at Springfield, Ohio. After many years, moving to Indiana, near Wesley. She placed her membership with the Christian Union church. Later, moving to Waynetown she identified herself with the Methodist Episcopal church, where she continued until called home. Three sisters, Mrs. Emeline R. L. Hall, New Richmond, Ind,, Mrs. Kate M. Shafer, Kokomo, Ind.; Mrs. Harriett L. R. Grove, Huntington Bench; Cal.; and two brothers, James L. Lovett and Dr. A. L. Lovett, are left to mourn her loss, but feel that their loss is her gain.
