Servies- Elizabeth Jones
Source: Crawfordsville Review, Sept 6, 1927
Elizabeth Servies, the daughter of John and Phoebe Jones, was born June 15, 1843 and died Aug. 29, 1927 aged 84 years 2 months 14 days.
On June 12, 1863, she was united in marriage with James H. Servies, who passed on to his heavely home many years ago.
To this union were born five children, four of whom are still living - Mrs. Ella Delaney, at home; John W of near Ladoga; Thomas H. of New Market and Manson, of near New Market. One daughter, Mrs. Lou Ann Brewer, preceded her in death.
Besides these, there are 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and one sister, Aunt Nancy Servies of near New Market, a multitude of relatives and friends.
Her entire life had been spent in and around New Market, except a few years were spent in Boone County.
Life, to her, was sweet, and as we think how she enjuoyed her home, her family, her relatives and friends we are made to wonder how she could so peaceably submit tot he inevitable and bid farewell to the pleasures and friendly associations of this life to enter into the spiritual unknown.
For four months Aunt Lizzie, as she was usually called, patiently endured her sickness, and may we think of her in the words of the poet as "One who wraps the drapery of his couch about him and lies down to pleasant dreams."
