Oscar M. Servies, 69, of 105 Wallace Ave., died Sunday morning in Culver Hospital after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Servies had retired this past July 27 from the soil conservation department after a number of years' service. He had been a farmer in Montgomery County many years. Mr. Servies was a graduate of Ladoga High School and Crawfordsville Business College. He was a member of Whitesville Christian Church where he was chairman of the deacons and a former church treasurer. A Montgomery County native, he was born Dec. 31, 1898, to John W. and Mary (Johnson) Servies. He was married at Jackson, Il., Aug. 23, 1919, to Gladys Graham, who survives. Also surviving are a son, John of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Harley of Van Bibber Lake and Foster of near Crawfordsville, and three grandsons, James, Robert and William. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hunt and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Markward and Rev. Tyler Sone officiating. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery.
