Larry Dean Servies, 84, Waveland, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.
He was born on Aug. 9, 1933 in Waveland to the late Lawrence and Agnes (Hayes) Servies.
Mr. Servies was a Waveland High School Graduate, graduating in 1951, after which he then graduated from Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1952. He served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He owned and operated Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, in Waveland and Servies and Morgan Funeral Homes in Ladoga and Roachdale, as well as the furniture store and Servies & Morgan Hardware. Mr. Servies served on the Waveland Fire Department since 1950 where he served as the fire chief for 35 years. He was a member of Waveland Covenant United Methodist Church, and Indiana Funeral Directors Association.
Survivors include his best friend Wanda Hopkins of Indianapolis; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2018 at Machledt & Servies Funeral Home, 301 East Green Street Waveland, Indiana 47989 with the Rev. William Pike officiating. Graveside and burial with Military Rites will follow at Waveland Presbyterian Cemetery. Family and friends may pay their respects Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
