Scott - Martha Fruits

Martha Scott, wife of David Scott, prominent local merchant, died at her home, 801 West Wabash Avenue Saturday night after an extended illness. Born September 30, 1887, on a farm in Ripley township, she was the daughter of Howard and Clara Hunter Fruits. She was married to David Scott in August, 1904. She was a active member of the First Christian church for thirty-five years, having held many important offices in the church, and took a keen interest in missionary work. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Surviving besides the husband are one daughter, Mrs. Charles H. Williams of Chicago, a half sister, Lovancie Swank of Crawfordsville, a half brother, James Fruits of near Crawfordsville, and a grandson, David Williams of Chicago. Funeral services will be held in the First Christian Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. with Rev. Paul Milton in charge. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church for one hour preceding the services. Friends may call at the Hunt & Son Funeral home to pay their respects.
