Reynolds - Edgar Scott, 69, retired Reynolds teacher and basketball coach died suddenly at 7:30 p.m. Friday of a heart attack. He was Honey Creek township trustee and Republican precinct committeeman at the time of his death. Prior to his retirement as a teacher he had taught 48 years. During 35 of those years he also served as basketball coach. He was at Reynolds during the last 10 years of his teaching career. He was a member of the local United Methodist Church and Knights of Pythias. Born Jan 22, 1901 in Whitestown to Abraham and Princess Lawson Scott he was married June 27, 1927 he married June 27, 1927 in Rockville to Inez Irene Royer. Surviving are the wife; three sons, William Edgar Jr of Bloomington; Jerry of Oxford; and the Rev. Jack Scott of Lamoille, Ill; two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Ann Hughes, Monon and Mrs. Diana Tabort, Lafayette. Also surviving are three brothers: Roy, Rochester, Minn; Bert, Knoxville, Ia; Rev. Carlyle Scott, Crawfordsville; three sisters, Mrs. Vida Laurimore, Crawfordsville; Mrs. Fanny Harpel, Linden; Mrs. Ruth Smith, Romney; and 9 grandchildren. A son, a brother and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral rites will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Reynolds United Methodist Church, Rev. Ivan Wood and Rev. Carlyle Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Linden cemetery. Friends may call at the Stewart Funeral Home in Monon after 10 a.m. today. The body will lie in state at the church from 9-10 a.m. Monday.
