Schweitzer - Thomas L - killed training WWII

Crawfordsville, Ind April 3 – Pvt. Thomas L. Schweitzer, 19 of Crawfordsville, injured in the crash of a training flight near Wiggins, Miss last Saturday died early today in the field hospital at Gulfport. Four flyers were killed in the crash and two injured while two others parachuted to safety. Pvt. Schweitzer had been in service since July 1944. He was a gunner. He had completed his junior year in Crawfordsville HS. A brother, Elmer Schweitzer and a sister, Mrs. Vivian Livingston, drove to Gulfport on received information Pvt. Schweitzer had been injured. The brother said he had suffered severe head injuries, a fracture hip, broken leg and broken ankle. The father, Garfield Schweitzer is employed at a Crawfordsville factory. The body will be brought here for burial.
