Crawfordsville, Ind Jan 8 – at night some weeks
ago a stranger entered the Monon ticket office at Crawfordsville and
deliberately shot Ticket Agent Will Schlemmer, fleeing at once. It was thought
Schlemmer would die but the ball struck the skull at such an angle of curvature
it did not penetrate the brain. Schlemmer resumed his duties two days ago and
last night was again attacked, this time the stranger using a knife and almost
hacking his clothes off. Schlemmer defended himself withhis revolver and drive
his assailant off. Schlemmer is reticent about the affair.
