Dr. Faye O. Schenck, 84, retired Crawfordsville physician, died suddenly Saturday afternoon at his home west of here. A practicing physician in this city for a quarter of a century, Dr. Schenck wass born April 12, 1878 in Crawfordsville, the son of Henry T. and Isabelle Orr Schenck. He married Anna J. Winter who preceded him in death. Active in church and business circles most of his life, Dr. Schenck was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church and a graduate of the Crawfordsville High School with the Class of 1896 and Indiana Medical School with the Class of 1905. He was the honor member of his class in medical school and began the practice of medicine in this city after serving his internship at the Indianapolis Dispensary. Dr. Schenck was among the organizers of the Union Savings and Loan Association in 1913. He was a director of the association many years and also a director o the Oak Hill Cemetery Association. In addition Dr. Schenck was a director of the First National Bank 25 years. He retired as a director of the Union Savings & Loan Association in 1960. He served with the Army Medical Corps in World War I as a first lieutenant with base hospital 145. He also was a member of Byron Cox Post of the American Legion many years. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Mader and two cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Hunt and Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at noon Monday.
