Schefke - Carrie Mapes

COVINGTON – Carrie B. Schefke, 67, a resident of Covington since 1939 and former resident of Danville, Ill., and Antwerp, Ohio, died Sunday at 1:55 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville. She had been a patient there since Jan. 6. Mrs. Schefke attended West Liberty Church of Christ. She was born March 24, 1909, at Fairmont, Ill., to Leonard and Laura Langford Mapes. She married Louis Carl Everett in 1933. He preceded her in death in 1948. She married Peter B. Schefke Dec. 22, 1956. He preceded her in death March 13, 1967. She was also preceded in death by a sister. Surviving are a son, Maxie Everett of Monrovia; three grandchildren; a stepdaughter; a brother, Walter Mapes of Gaylord, Mich.; a sister, Mrs. Maude Ruth Twigg of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home with the Rev. John Webster officiating. Burial will be in Atherton Cemetery at Danville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today. – jlr
