Scalf - Lillie Solomon

Mrs. Lillie M. Scalf, 77, 516 S. Walnut St., died Monday in the Claxton Hospital near Manassas, Ga. She had been visiting with a daughter, Mrs. Ray Stultz Lee, when she became ill in May. She was born Sept. 13, 1892, in New Market, Tenn., the daughter of Jacob and Eliza Wilson Solomon, and was married to Columbus Andrew Scalf in 1921 in Knoxville, Tenn. In 1925 they moved to Virden, Ill., and after her husband died in 1937 she moved to Crawfordsville. She was a member of the First Church of Nazarene, NWMS and the Faithful Circle and the WCTU. After her husband’s death she was employed by Stewart Products. She was a member of a family of 11 children. She is survived by two sons, Clyde O. Scalf of Crawfordsville and W. J. Scalf of Lakewood, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Lee; one sister, Mrs. Cleo Dawson of Knoxville, Tenn., and nine grandchildren. Besides the husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and a daughter-in-law and newborn grandson in 1961. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Bright Funeral Horne in Crawfordsville. – jlr
