Sayler - Milbert Francis

Milbert SAYLER, one of the best known citizens of the county, died at his home south of New Market at 7:30 on Saturday morning. He has been suffering with heart trouble but had eaten his breakfast and had attended to watering some stock. He complained of not feeling well and laid down on a couch and passed away in a few minutes. Funeral services at the home on Monday afternoon were in charge of Rev. Esmond Elliott assisted by Rev. JM Caldwell. Burial at Indian Creek Cemetery. Mr. Sayler was the son of William and Malinda Clodfelter Sayler and was born Dec 31, 1859 in Putnam County. He married Malinda VanCleave Dec 31, 1884. He is survived by the widow, two sons, Walter L. and Hubert of near New Market, two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Milligan of Waveland Mrs. Frank Steele of near new Market, 10 grandchildren, 3 brothers, Charles and Harve Sayler of New Market and Jacob of near New Market and one sister, Mrs. Alice Clark, of near New Market. Preceding him in death was a son, Clarence L. who passed away in 1918. He was a member of the New Market Baptist Church and Knights of Pythias. lodge. He was a successful farmer and took great interest in the Farmers Institutes held in the township and county. He was especially noted as a breeder of Poland China hogs and other fine stock.- kbz
