One of New Ross' sons - Larkin Sandlin fell in the battle with the Phillipine natives. He died in a hospital soon after being wounded. He was 27 years old and considered a bright young man. He and Lannie Golliday went to Chicago last spring and enlisted in the regular army and were sent to the Phillipines. Golliday has been dangerously ill, but word has been received that he is recovering. -- kbz
